About Indo-UK Oncology Summit 2017

The Indo British Health Initiative (IBHI) will organise the biggest ever Indo-UK Oncology Summit in Chennai on 15th & 16th December 2017.

The conference which is a combined initiative between the Indo British Health Initiative (IBHI) and the Christie Oncology Hospital Manchester is due to hold this international event on the 15th and 16th of December 2017. The focus of this conference is on recent advances in oncology with emphasis on the different subspecialties that encompass it. India is facing an increasing incidence of cancer and the partnership with the Christie Hospital will enable transfer of new techniques along with educational opportunities for aspiring oncologists.

The conference will have sessions that will highlight the advances in organ based treatment along with a live operating session. Experts from the length and breadth of the country along with international experts will be delivering lectures and conducting workshops.

Participants will have the opportunity to experience the entire spectrum of cancer care delivery. Postgraduates will have a student session that will give them an experience of how education in oncology is conducted in the United Kingdom. There will be an opportunity to showcase their individual talent during the Young Innovator Session with a cash prize for the winner along with a team contest in the form of an Oncology Quiz.


The Indo British Health Initiative aims to promote scientific collaboration between healthcare personnel in the United Kingdom and India. It also seeks to facilitate more UK higher education partnerships and business opportunities for UK commercial firms in the healthcare sector in India. The IBHI foundation was mainly formed to facilitate and channelise these initiatives.

Recent events

Collaboration between IBHI & Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh

The IBHI in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh has been instrumental in establishing a preparatory course for the FRCS International Examination in General Surgery at MIOT Hospitals, Chennai. The course which is conducted by teaching faculty from the United Kingdom and India is held over three days and helps candidates to prepare for the viva and clinical part of the FRCS International examination. The course has been conducted for the past two years and candidates from countries in the Middle East and across Asia have participated in the course and several candidates have successfully passed the FRCS International examination.

To challenge participants on how well they understand cancers, the various causes, regional impacts, dietary habits, lifestyle influence and prevention measures to impact society at large.

Eligibility: Post Graduates in all specialities of Medicine & Surgery

Rewards: The winning team will be awarded with cash prize of Rs. 15,000

IBHI Young Innovator Award

An inspiring award to encourage budding talents – young scientists below the age of 40 from clinical sciences or basic sciences in the field of Oncology – who could provide a spring board to a new technology, protocol or therapy that may assist to change the perception of cancer care.

Participants are expected to submit their papers which will be scrutinized by the committee and the top 5 will get the opportunity to present them at the summit.


  • Age – Below 40 Years
  • Open to healthcare professionals, PG students (medical or non-medical), scientists and health educators involved in oncology.


The best innovator will win a cash award of Rs. 50,000

Grand Oncology Quiz

IBHI presents an exclusive quizzing extravaganza intended for Post Graduates in Medical field. Interested candidates shall enroll & participate in this open event (preliminary Oncology online Quiz). Top 5 teams (3 per team) will be selected from among the online participants to compete in the grand finale (on-ground) which will be held on 15th December, 2017 at Feathers Hotel, Chennai.

Registration Steps:

Step 1: Enroll complete details of your team members. Each team should have 3 members (mandatory)

Step 2: Participate in the Online Oncology Quiz

Step 3: Only one submission per team is allowed

All registrants (bonafide post graduates / interns) for Online Oncology Quiz are entitled to witness/participate in the 2 day Indo-UK Oncology Summit to be held on 15th & 16th December, 2017 between 8.30am to 9.30am at Feathers Hotel, Chennai. Top 5 teams selected for final on-ground quiz will be announced in the last week of November, 2017.

Young Innovator Award

Abstract Submission

Step 1: Read carefully the abstract guidelines.

Step 2: Prepare the abstract as per the guidelines in a word document format.

Step 4: Enroll & submit your abstract.

Who can Participate

A 5-minute presentation of a transformational initiative that is likely to make a change in our approach to Cancer. Age – below 40 yrs, Open to healthcare professionals, PG students (medical or non-medical), Scientists and health educators involed in Oncology.

Selection process:

  • Participants are expected to enroll their registration & submit their papers through the “Enroll & Upload Abstract” option
  • All submissions should be received latest by 20th November, 2017
  • The submissions will be scrutinized by the committee and the top 10 will be invited to display their abstracts in the venue as posters on 15th December, 2017
  • The best 5 out of the 10 posters will be shortlisted for Presentation on 16th Dec, 2017 between 8.30am to 9.30am
  • Judgement will be based on originality, experimental design, scientific/clinical value and data supporting conclusions
